Ford recalls more than 422,000 vehicles for windshield wiper defect

Ford has recalled more than 422,000 vehicles nationwide due to a windshield wiper failure across various models.
The recall includes the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs, along with several F-series trucks, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced.
The specific vehicles involved in the recall of 422,613 vehicles include:
- Ford F-250 2022-2023
- Ford F-350 2022-2023
- Ford F-450 2022-2023
- Ford F-550 2022-2023
- Ford F-600 2022-2023
- Ford Expedition 2021-2023
- Lincoln Navigator 2021-2023

Ford defect may cause erratic speeds, complete wiper failure
The estimated percentage of vehicles with the windshield wiper defect is 3% of the more than 422,000 cars recalled.
The vehicle’s windshield wiper arms may break, causing the wipers to fall off entirely. This defect can reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
“In all of the affected vehicles, it is possible that the splines on one or both wiper arms may become stripped or damaged. This may result in erratic wiper arm speed, an inoperable wiper arm and/or a wiper arm becoming detached from the vehicle,” an NHTSA notice to dealers stated.
A remedy has been provided, as dealers will inspect and replace the wiper arms, as necessary, and free of charge.
NHTSA noted interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed on April 13. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available.
