Forecast bodes well for catching Perseid meteor shower

The forecast for clear skies bodes well for getting a great view at this weekend’s Perseid meteor shower.
The annual space show peaks Saturday night. This year’s promises to be particularly spectacular, according to NASA.
The Seattle Times reports it could feature as many as 100 shooting stars per hour with fireballs visible in the night sky.
Experts say the mountains are the best place to catch the show, with the show peaking between 2 to 4 a.m.
The Perseids are one of the oldest recorded meteor showers, dating back at least 2,000 years. They appear each August when the Earth passes through a cloud of dust from the comet Swift-Tuttle, which zips around the sun once every 133 years.
