Garbage service back to normal following Ohio strike

Apr 18, 2013, 7:39 AM | Updated: 9:18 am

Seattle area customers of Republic Services who were impacted by a garbage strike in Youngstown, Ohio can expect normal service moving forward.

Republic Services says they have resumed collecting garbage, recycling and yard waste in the Puget Sound.

Any customers impacted Wednesday may put up to double the load on their next regularly scheduled collection day.

On Wednesday, striking landfill workers from Youngstown, Ohio, set up picket lines in Seattle, Lynnwood, and Kent.

The Ohio union members have been taking this strike to company facilities around the nation to highlight their labor dispute.

The union workers picketed in the Seattle area in part because Bill Gates owns 25 percent of the company.
