Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the governor’s office.

Inslee is currently experiencing very mild symptoms, including a mild cough.

Concerns rise as more children contract COVID-19 variant

As Inslee works from home, he is consulting with his doctor to set up treatments for Paxlovid antiviral treatments.

He is also fully vaccinated, including two booster shots, in Oct. 2021 and Mar. 2022.

“I am experiencing very mild symptoms and am most glad I’m vaccinated and boosted,” Inslee said. “I hope others consider getting their booster because it’s very effective in preventing serious illness.”

Inslee’s positive case comes days after dropping the vaccine requirement for outdoor contractors and volunteers ahead of wildfire season. Inslee said workers who perform exterior maintenance, landscape contractors, those working outdoor construction sites, and contractors who fight wildfires are no longer required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

San Juan County moved to ‘high risk’ with 444 cases per 100,000. Clallam County is considered high risk amid rising hospitalization rates, while Jefferson County is considered medium risk.

King and Snohomish Counties moved to ‘medium risk’ after crossing the threshold of 200 cases per 100,000 people. King County has a seven-day average of 200 cases per 100,000, and Snohomish County is averaging 218.
