Greenwood murder possibly tied to restaurant robbery

Feb 25, 2014, 6:33 PM | Updated: Feb 26, 2014, 7:37 am

Seattle police are now investigating whether a fatal shooting in the Greenwood neighborhood is tied to a robbery at a restaurant a half block away, KING 5 reports.

Police found 54-year-old David Peterson shot to death in his car Sunday night near North 85th and 1st Avenue NW. 911 had received calls of shots fired just before.

Three suspects were seen running from the area, and detectives believe robbery was the motive in the shooting. Two were black males, a third a white female.

A waitress at the nearby Baranof restaurant tells KING 5 just prior to the shooting two young black men and a white woman entered the closed business.

She says the three acted suspiciously and grabbed a drop bag of cash from the register and ran off when she went into the back to get them some drinks to go.

The waitress called police, who determined their descriptions match the three suspects from the robbery.

Both police and Zielinski could provide only vague descriptions of the suspects. All three are described as young, in their 20s-30s. Two were black men, one short and one tall with a thin build, wearing a Northface jacket. The waitress says they were clean cut.

The waitress says the young woman was white with long dark straight hair below the shoulders. She was wearing a light shirt and dark jacket.

Anyone with information about either crime is asked to contact the Seattle Police Department.
