Washington State Patrol (WSP) said the hazmat crew was called due to a possible leakage from the crash.

“Hazmat is now on scene at the HWY 2 crash doing a full assessment of what spilled and making a game plan to clean up,” Snohomish Fire & Rescue stated. “Tow trucks have been dispatched.”

It’s unclear what spilled, and the eastbound lanes remain closed with no ETA for reopening, Snohomish Fire & Rescue reported on X at 10:30 a.m.

At least one person was seriously injured, as of this reporting. They were transported to a nearby hospital.

What led to the crash has yet to be determined. Drivers have been advised to avoid the area.
