The investigation into a serious-injury crash and a separate hit-and-run had all lanes of southbound I-5 at State Route 512 blocked in Tacoma Friday morning.

Washington State Trooper Todd Bartolac said the crashes occurred on the freeway overnight. One was a three-car crash. The other was a two-car hit-and-run.

One person was killed, KIRO Radio’s Chris Sullivan reports.

The causing drivers were both arrested for DUI, according to Bartolac.

Traffic was detoured to Gravelly Lake Drive until approximately 6 a.m. when the freeway reopened.
