If you have ever wanted to be in the Captain’s chair on the Starship Enterprise or be faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive, you will want to check out the new “Icons of Science Fiction” exhibit opening this weekend at Seattle’s EMP Museum.
Curator Brooks Peck says the world of fantasy is full of questions.
“Questions like: What if we could explore the stars? Or, what if robots took over and controlled our lives? Or, what if I had super powers?” says Peck.
The Icons of Science Fiction Exhibit is organized around the big questions the creators of film and literature try to answer.
There are dozens of rare items on display including the command chair from the original Starship Enterprise. They have also been able to get an original Imperial Dalek from the Doctor Who series. It is something not often seen in the United States since the series was made in the U.K.
From the Superman movies and the Matrix to television series like Lost in Space and the Powerpuff Girls, the exhibit is for sci-fi buffs and novices alike.
Peck says he hopes the exhibit will inspire you to explore all that the genre has to offer and perhaps even create some new science fiction of your own.
