A 21-year-old volunteer with the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery was arrested for allegedly making a string of false emergency reports from late July through September.
The false emergency reports triggered large-scale responses from police, firefighters, and medics, prompting a months-long investigation within the Issaquah Police Department. The calls allegedly included fabricated claims of active shooters, bombs, stabbings, seizures, and other medical crises.
The suspect would use false names, untraceable devices, and public infrastructure to hide his identity, according to KIRO 7. Investigators later confirmed he was at the hatchery when the fraudulent calls were made.
According to KIRO 7, investigators discovered a long history of making fake 911 calls in the region.
The suspect was arrested on Sept. 30 and booked into the Issaquah City Jail. He faces 11 charges of false reporting.
