A Joint Base Lewis McChord soldier got a nice gift from country star Dierks Bentley on the Ellen Degeneres Show this week.

Bentley gave JBLM Sgt. Chad Sparks a $50,000 check after his wife wrote a letter into the show. Degeneres read the email to the audience and asked the couple who were in the audience to join her on stage.

“It’s an honor to meet both of you,” said Degeneres. “I love that you wrote this because we get a chance to say thank you because it is a sacrifice that so many of you make.”

Country star Dierks Bentley joined the couple on the couch during their conversation with Ellen.

“We’re so honored by your service and sacrifice, and all you guys do and I was talking to Ellen about a way to give back to you guys and help you all out,” said Bentley, handing the couple the $50,000 check.

Sparks hugged the country star as his wife thanked and hugged Ellen. Sparks will be leaving soon for his second deployment in Afghanistan.
