Kent gun dealer charged with illegal gun, drug sales

May 3, 2013, 1:09 PM | Updated: 2:02 pm

A Kent man and his stepson are accused in federal court of illegal gun sales and drug dealing out of the older man’s gun shop.

A seven-count criminal indictment names Mark Bryant, owner of Westside Guns and East Valley Auto Rebuild, and his stepson Andrew Gagley. They were arrested following an eight-month investigation, according to U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan.

The indictment claims Bryant, 49 and Gagley, 30, sold guns to felons or illegal aliens at or near the gun store. Bryant is accused of illegally selling a handgun on Oct. 24, 2012 to a person he knew was a drug dealer. Two days later, the indictment claims Gagley sold a semi-automatic rifle to an illegal alien who was working with law enforcement.

Bryant is accused of distribution of demerol and other prescription painkillers.

Conviction on each of the seven counts includes a prison sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
