Kent Police arrest owners of medical marijuana operations

Aug 4, 2011, 11:15 AM | Updated: Oct 10, 2012, 7:28 am

The City of Kent is taking its moratorium on medical marijuana businesses seriously by making three arrests.

Kent Police arrested three owners of two medical marijuana operations this week and charged them with misdemeanor drug possession and the intent to deliver.

Their arraignment is expected next Wednesday.

The city banned all medical marijuana businesses for six months in July as it figures out how to regulate collective gardens which are now legal under state law.

Federal Way, Tacoma and other cities have imposed similar moratoriums.

Mukilteo and Seattle have taken the opposite approach, deciding to license and regulate them.
