A tentative agreement has been reached between the striking Seattle Public Schools teachers and the district.

There’s no word yet on when students will get to return to school: students have not returned to school on Tuesday.

Bargaining teachers requested additional support for special and multilingual education, although the exact terms of the agreement have been kept confidential.

Crashed Whidbey Island plane’s fuselage potentially identified by federal investigators

The National Transportation Safety Board, the agency charged with investigating a recent Whidbey Island plane crash, says it believes it found the fuselage of the floatplane that crashed in Mutiny Bay on September 4th.

Pilot and aviation expert Kathleen Bangs says now crews will work on carefully surfacing the plane to try to figure out what happened.

“There is no voice recorder, there is no data recorder, the pilot is no longer alive for us to talk to, and there was no distress call. The only clues they’re really going to have in this to go by is looking at that structure,” Bangs told KIRO 7 TV.

Only one body has been recovered so far.

The Island County Coroner identified the body as 29-year-old Gabby Hanna, an attorney who lived in Seattle.

Fruit trees produce less after cold snap last year

Some fall cider-pressing parties are being canceled and the homemade jam jars are sitting empty.

Some of our state’s fruit trees are not producing much this year.

Washington State Tree Fruit Association President Jon DeVaney says trees were stressed with last summer’s heat – meaning many didn’t produce as many flowers this spring.

And, right as they were blooming a cold snap kept bees from venturing out of their nests to pollinate the trees.

Western Washington property owners say some of their early and mid-season apple, pear, and plum trees have produced little or no fruit this year.

Statewide this year’s commercial cherry crop is down 40% from last year and apple production is down 11%.

DeVaney says if weather conditions are favorable next year, fruit trees are likely to rebound and produce bigger crops because they had a rest this year.
