After some false alarms, frigid weather, and the Thanksgiving holiday, Western Washington got its first taste of snow for the season, albeit a short-lived one.

Blast of arctic air heads to Seattle area for holiday weekend

With temperatures sitting in the mid 30s across the region early Sunday morning, light snow and rain/snow mixes headed into the region. It didn’t bring much in the way of accumulation, but still ended an uncharacteristically dry November period.

Things warmed up as Sunday morning wound to a close, with most lowland snow turning into rain at that point.

Seattle winter could be much snowier than usual

This comes after a cold weekend, brought on by a blast of arctic air storming in from Canada. That dropped temperatures below freezing in Seattle and beyond. After Sunday, overnight lows are expected to warm back up again.
