Link light rail trains will start running more frequently later this week as the region continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Link light rail trains enter passenger service

Starting Saturday, June 12, Link is ramping up service to run every eight minutes during peak hours, and every 10 minutes during midday and weekends. The trains will run every 15 minutes late in the evenings.

“The days are longer, the weather is warmer, the virus is retreating, and we are all venturing out more and more. In the coming months as more and more people return to normal routines, expanded Link service will help riders get back to enjoying fast and congestion-free trips,” said Sound Transit CEO Peter Rogoff. “With traffic congestion worsening and already at pre-pandemic levels, the benefits of Link will only keep growing, especially with our Oct. 2 expansion of service northward to the U District, Roosevelt and Northgate.”

Light rail service to Northgate begins in October

Right now, due to operator availability, trains are running every 12 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes in off-peak times, extending to every 30 minutes late evenings.

ST Express and Sounder service will remain unchanged.

Passengers on Sound Transit must continue to wear face coverings on vehicles and at stations.
