Man arrested for child luring, shots fired in Seattle

Sep 23, 2014, 4:32 PM | Updated: 5:20 pm

A man who tried to lure children into his car in Seattle’s Brighton neighborhood was arrested after shooting a gun Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the 33-year-old man fired the gun in the area of Rainier Avenue South and South Graham Street around 3:15 p.m. Three nearby schools “sheltered in place” as a precaution.

About the same time, police say someone called 911 to report a man who fit the same description as the shooter was trying to lure several children into his car.

Witnesses helped identify the suspect, and police arrested the man and recovered a loaded handgun. Victims also confirmed he was the same man who attempted to lure children into his car.

The suspect was booked in to King County Jail for several crimes stemming from the shooting and child luring incident, according to police.
