Man arrested for firing assault rifle into the air on July 4

Officers arrested a convicted felon after he allegedly fired an assault rifle into the air above West Seattle amid Fourth of July fireworks.
Police responded to the 4200 block of Southwest Dakota Street at around 11:30 p.m. on July 4. Various neighbors called 911 to report seeing a group of men going into the street and firing an AK-47 style assault rifle into the air. Police found 10 people inside the home, including the 29-year-old man in possession of the rifle. The man is a convicted felon and is legally unable to own or possess a firearm.
The man allegedly admitted to officers that he fired the assault rifle into the air after setting off fireworks in the street.
The gun was hidden behind a washing machine when officers found it. No one was reportedly injured by the incident.
