Lakewood police need the public’s help to find a man who
forced his way into a woman’s apartment Friday morning and
raped her.

It happened at The Village at Seeley Lake Apartments
around 7:30 a.m., just after the woman arrived at her
home.

“She had only been home about 15 minutes when she got a
knock at the door,” said Lieutenant Chris Lawler with the
Lakewood Police Department. “She went to the door to
check, looked through the peep hole and could see a guy,
and he said he was from ‘maintenance.'”

Lawler said when the woman opened the door slightly, the
suspect pushed his way in and sexually assaulted her at
gunpoint.

“You don’t answer the door for somebody you don’t
recognize without demanding some kind of identification,”
Lawler said. “And even if you’re not satisfied with the
ID, call the company and say, ‘I’ve got somebody here
saying they’re from your business, did you send somebody
here?'”

The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 30s
to early 40s, approximately 5’9″ and 180 to 200 pounds. He
has short dark brown or black hair, a tan complexion, a
thin dark mustache and laugh line wrinkles.

Those with information are asked to call the Lakewood
Police Department’s Tip Live at 253-830-5064. Tips can
also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers at 253-591-
5959.
