Man falls to death at Seattle shipyard

Feb 3, 2012, 3:07 PM | Updated: 4:56 pm

A man fell nearly 100 feet to his death at the Seattle shipyards Friday.

The man, whose name has not been released, was working at the Vigor shipyard when the accident happened.

“What we’ve learned is he was up on top of the vessel and he fell somewhere between 70 and 100 feet and on his way down fell through scaffolding and landed on the ground,” said Kyle Moore with Seattle Fire. “He suffered major trauma to his body and just did not make it.”

Workers at the location had started CPR while emergency responders were en route, said Moore. He died at the scene.

OSHA has been called in to investigate.
