Miss Washington 2011 may never get her crown and sash back again but it’s not because she’s passed them on to reigning Miss Washington Mandy Schendel.
Brittney Henry competed for the title of Miss America in early 2012, but shortly after her Miss Washington crown and sash were stolen from her car.
Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist says they’ve found the responsible crown-thieving party guilty and he has a recommended sentence of 43 months.
Jason Broderson-Matthai plead guilty to 11 counts identity theft, one count of taking a motor vehicle without permission and one count of possession of stolen property.
While some stolen possessions were recovered, Lindquist says police were unable to find Henry’s crown and sash.
“I’m not sure why anyone who’s not Miss Washington would want Miss Washington’s regalia,” says Lindquist, “but there is some pretender out there with a sash and a crown.”
