Man’s refrigerator explodes during marijuana extraction in Lake City

A Lake City home suffered a lot of damage in a large explosion Monday night.
When police responded to reports of the explosion in the 3000 block of NE 135th Street, the 37-year-old resident told police his refrigerator exploded.
Officers believed the refrigerator had exploded while the man was extracting THC from marijuana, which police say commonly involves butane. The man confirmed this is was what he was up to.
No one was injured in the explosion. But police report the blast broke four windows and moved a back wall in the house three inches.
Detectives from the Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating.
