Median home price climbs in King County again

May 7, 2018, 6:19 PM | Updated: May 8, 2018, 5:45 am

The median cost of a home in King County continues to smash records while home prices in the North Sound hit an all-time high.

The Northwest Multiple Listing Service shows the median cost of a home in King County hit $725,000 in April, breaking the previous record of $690,000 set in March.

In Snohomish County the median house cost climbed over $500,000 for the first time.

The silver lining is inventory. MLS reported the highest level of inventory since August 2017, but says it likely won’t affect rising prices. MLS says its brokers added 11,271 new listings in April, which is a gain of 6.3 percent over March, and is up nearly 5.9 percent over this time last year.

A new poll from the Puget Sound Regional Council shows the rising cost of living is the worst part about living in the Seattle area. The struggle to afford a home surpassed transportation and homelessness.
