Monroe police found missing 8-week-old kangaroo

Did you see a kangaroo hopping around in Monroe?

The Monroe Police Department had been searching for an 8-week-old kangaroo that was transported from the Arlington Kangaroo Wildlife Park sanctuary and hopped out of a van along Main Street on Tuesday.

The kangaroo has been found, according to Monroe PD.

“Our Animal Control Officer has the kangaroo, transporting to an animal hospital in Fall City for treatment,” Monroe PD tweeted just before 1 p.m. Tuesday. “Will send out details of his capture as soon as they are put together.”

The animal was asleep in the van when it then woke up and started hopping around. Thinking it needed to go outside or stretch its legs, the people transporting it let it out and it took off.

“What our officers are going to do when they find it, we’re not sure, but we’ll try to capture it,” said Debbie Willis with the Monroe PD.

The Monroe PD first tweeted about the missing kangaroo with a photo that was not the young two-month old that’s missing.
