New mayor of Pacific already hiring police officers

The City of Pacific is no longer firing people. It’s hiring people.

In her first official act since being named mayor Thursday night, former council member Leanne Guier is putting people back to work.

“I just signed the order to hire two police officers,” Guier said. “We’ve been wanting that for a long time, and I just authorized the chief to hire two officers that have been in the rings and are already approved.”

Pacific has six officers back on the streets as of Friday.
