Two veteran Federal Way police officers shot and killed an armed man at a car wash Monday night.

The shooting happened at about 10:30 p.m. at the Federal Way Elephant Car Wash in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South.

Police said the incident began when witnesses called 911 about an armed driver of an SUV who was threatening two people in a car with a gun. The victims were not hurt.

Police say when two officers caught up with the SUV in the car wash parking lot, the driver immediately pointed the gun at the officers.

They told him to put the gun down, but when he didn’t comply, both officers fired shots.

The suspect, a man in his 20s, was hit at least twice and died at the scene.

No officers were injured.
