Overdue hiker in Olympics found safe

A hiker who didn’t return from a planned 6-day hike has been found safe.
Olympic National Park searchers were hopeful they could find the hiker, Kelly Hall, who had been overdue since Thursday.
KING 5 reports Hall walked to the Elwha Ranger Station area Monday morning.
As the search resumed Monday for Hall, park spokeswoman Barb Maynes said he was experienced, well-equipped, and the weather has been favorable.
About 20 searchers on the ground plus a plane and helicopter were looking for the 64-year-old Bainbridge Island man who left Aug. 30 on a six-day, 39-mile loop hike in the northeast corner of the park, southeast of Port Angeles.
His family reported him missing Thursday night after he failed to show up as planned. Hall was last seen by another party on Aug. 30 about four miles from his starting point near Hurricane Ridge.
Maynes said it’s a long, tough hike but the trails are relatively well-used.
