Panel to review ranger’s murder on Mt. Rainier

Members of the National Park Service from around the country will meet at Mount Rainier this week to review the murder of ranger Margaret Anderson, who was gunned down during a traffic stop in January.
Ranger Anderson was killed by a murder suspect January 1 after he blew through a tire chain checkpoint on the mountain.
A five member panel made up of Park Service supervisors and a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy will review the case this week, looking for what lessons, if any, can be learned from the case.
The panel will interview workers who were on the mountain that day, walk the crime scene and review what the FBI has put together so far.
The News Tribune reports the FBI hasn’t finished its investigation because snow still covers areas of the crime scene. They are waiting for snow to melt to look for any missed evidence.
