PeaceHealth cutting 150 Washington jobs as IT work outsourced to India

Technology layoffs at PeaceHealth will affect workers in Whatcom and Skagit counties.
PeaceHealth, a not-for-profit Catholic healthcare system operating in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington, told the state it’s cutting 150 jobs statewide, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing last week, most of them in Vancouver.
This is the company’s third round of layoffs in a year.
The layoffs will occur on Nov. 20. The affected jobs are in IT — primarily analysts, analytics reporters, application developers, and network administrators — as the company is officially outsourcing IT functions to an India-based company, Tech Mahindra, according to The Portland Business Journal. The layoffs do not include medical or care positions.
PeaceHealth said on-site technology support will continue without a decrease.
