Pierce County woman killed after tree falls on car during storm

A 58-year-old Pierce County woman has died after a tree fell on her car near Enumclaw during Tuesday afternoon’s storm.
The tree struck the victim’s vehicle at approximately 8 p.m. as she was driving eastbound on SR 410 near Crystal River Ranch, and a tree fell directly onto her car, according to KIRO 7.
The vehicle was pushed roughly 50 feet after the tree fell onto the car and eventually came to a stop on the right shoulder of the roadway.

Dangerous weather conditions contributed to the tree falling, which was noted to be roughly 12 inches in diameter.
The victim was the only occupant inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident blocked off the highway for more than three hours as Washington State Patrol troopers investigated and crews worked to clear debris.
The woman’s identity has yet to be released.
