More snow on the way for Washington mountains

Ski season is officially underway in Washington.
Both Mount Baker and Crystal Mountain partially opened Friday. And, John Gifford with the Pacific Northwest Ski Association says it’s only going to get better from here.
“I think it looks good,” he said. “The forecasts are calling for more snow, so I anticipate you’ll see more [ski resorts] opening up maybe in the next couple of days.”
Gifford says Thanksgiving is a bit early for openings because usually decent snow accumulation doesn’t happen until the very end of November and beginning of December.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. Friday to noon on Saturday. Snowfall could get heavy at times late Friday night and into Saturday morning.
As much as 10 inches could accumulate at Paradise Ranger Station on Mount Rainer through Saturday afternoon, according to the Weather Service. Up to 8 inches is expected at Stevens Pass. And up to 4 inches is possible at White Pass. Snoqualmie Pass is expected to get a light accumulation.
Crystal Mountain already has up to 20 inches of snow and the forecast is calling for an additional 2 feet by Friday. Both Crystal and Baker have limited operations initially but will open more runs as allowed.

Gifford says expect to see more resorts opening in the next week or two.
