Police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting in Burien that resulted in a man dying on Wednesday.
At 8:18 p.m., several people called 911 and reported hearing gunshots and a crash at Southwest 129th Street and 4th Avenue Southwest.
When officers arrived, they found a man in a car with gunshot wounds and a 2-year-old child, who was not injured.
Police said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries but later died on Wednesday.
Several roads in the area were closed while police investigated.
Last weekend, there was a spike in gun violence in King County. Authorities reported shootings in the Central District, White Center, and Pioneer Square.
Recent data suggests the county is on track to have a record-breaking year. In response, an emergency budget amendment has been proposed that would pump $1.47 million into fighting the problem.
