Police precinct vandalized, one officer injured during protests Monday

One police officer was injured and one arrest was made during protests Monday night that began at Cal Anderson Park.
According to Seattle Police, the group moved to the department’s West Precinct near 8th Avenue and Virginia Street around 9 p.m.
People then began throwing objects at the building, breaking windows and causing minor damage. Graffiti was spray painted on the building, and a police vehicle was vandalized. Windows were smashed at multiple businesses, including a nearby Starbucks.
The group then marched back to Capitol Hill where a fire was set outside the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct.
Near midnight on Tuesday, the group returned to Cal Anderson Park and dispersed.
One person was arrested for arson. Police have not released the condition of the injured officer.
