Power a problem for festivities around Lake Wenatchee on Christmas Day

Crews in Chelan County worked through Christmas Day to get the power back on for people around Lake Wenatchee.
Steve Lachowicz with Chelan County Public Utilities District says getting everyone back on line will be a gradual process.
“A few will get it back today (Wednesday,) but others, especially those way off in remote areas where there is a lot of tree damage especially on their own property – it still could be days, or even weeks,” says Lachowicz.
About 2,000 people are still in the dark, thanks to falling trees, high winds and heavy snow. But that number of people is down from the 3,500 customers who first lost power.
The same weather system that’s caused US-2 between Stevens Pass and Leavenworth to be closed for the past two days is to blame for the power outages.
“A lot of the trees dropped snow yesterday in the warm weather, but a lot of the areas that were shaded still have a lot of icy build-up,” according to Lachowicz. The weather could complicate getting the power back on in some areas.
