Approximately 1,600 people on Whidbey Island are still without power three days after the storm.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) crews are working hard to complete power restoration. Midnight tonight is PSE’s target.

In the meantime, gas stations on the island are packed with people like Alerick getting gas for generators.

“We have a generator, luckily, and we’re getting some more fuel,” Alerick told KIRO Newsradio. “Here it’s been pretty, pretty cold, actually, because right now our heaters are out.”

According to PSE, several sections of transmission lines were destroyed and are being replaced to restore power.

Residents like Wes Helseth see PSE crews working all over the island, thanking them for their effort.

“They be working their butts off. I mean, those guys, they get hats off to them,” Helseth said. “I mean, this has been a big storm, and there’s a lot of outages, and it’s like triage, taking care of the masses as much as they can. Hopefully, they get to take care of themselves at some point.”

Drivers on the island should be aware that there are intersections where traffic lights are out. Always treat a dark intersection like a four-way stop.
