Pregnant woman attacked in Seattle park

Sep 16, 2014, 11:12 AM | Updated: 11:30 am

Seattle police are looking for two young women who attacked a pregnant woman in Cowan Park in the Roosevelt neighborhood Monday evening.

The victim, who is eight months pregnant, was walking through the park to a friend’s home around 11:30 p.m. when the two women approached her from behind and began hitting her, police said.

The attackers, reportedly both in their late teens to early 20’s, reportedly pulled the victim’s shirt over her head and punched her in the face.

Witnesses driving by the park saw the attack and stopped to help the victim, police said. They reportedly heard a man nearby warn ‘You might not want to do that.’ But the attackers and men fled when the witnesses approached.

The victim suffered a knot on her forehead and swelling under her eyes. Medics treated her at the scene and she later went on her own to Northwest Hospital for additional treatment. She told police they didn’t take anything during the attack.

Both female attackers were described as being about 5’7″. One was wearing a pink hoodie and jeans and the other wore a light-colored T-shirt and jeans.

The male suspect was described as 5’7″, and wore a blue baseball cap, blue T-shirt and blue shorts.

Police searched the area but found no sign of the suspects.
