President Obama isn’t in Western Washington this week, but
one of his jets is making plenty of appearances.

The Boeing 747 VC-25A, known as Air Force One when the
president is on board, is in the shop at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for routine maintenance, according to Staff Sgt.
Frances Kriss, a spokeswoman for the 62nd Airlift Wing

A lot of people are seeing the jetliner flying around because after getting worked on, it gets put through its
paces before returning to presidential service.

“This testing program includes a requirement to conduct
multiple takeoff approaches and landings under a variety of
conditions. There are no passengers aboard,” Kriss said.

The plane is expected to be in town for a couple more days
before heading back to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
