A public funeral service is scheduled for Monday morning for Charleena Lyles, the black pregnant mother of four shot and killed by Seattle police in June.

Lyles called 911 to report a burglary. The two officers who responded opened fire when they said she pulled knives on them.

Many, including Lyles’ family, believe race was a factor and have asked why officers didn’t diffuse the situation with non-lethal force.

Based on audio, video, and a transcript, neither of the officers were carrying Tasers. One officer can be heard telling the other to tase Lyles, in which the officer responds that he isn’t carrying it.

The shooting remains under investigation.

The public funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Seattle.
