Stabbing inside Rainier Valley Safeway sends victim to hospital, motive unclear

A 64-year-old man was arrested after a stabbing inside a Rainier Valley Safeway on Sunday, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) announced.
SPD officers responded to the reported stabbing at approximately 4 p.m. in the 3800 block of Rainier Ave S. When they arrived, they located a victim bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds.

Officers were able to locate the suspect, arrest him, and recover a knife as evidence for the crime.
SPD officers reviewed video surveillance footage inside the Safeway, determining that the suspect approached the victim inside the grocery store and stabbed him, in what seemed to have no clear motive.
The victim was provided emergency medical treatment for his stab wounds by both SPD officers and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD).
SFD transported the victim in serious condition with life-threatening injuries to Harborview Medical Center.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.
The events leading up to the attack are currently under investigation.
