The company dominates e-commerce, and now there are new reports Seattle-based Amazon plans to try its hand with a brick and mortar store as well.

The blog GoodEReader.com reports Amazon sources have confirmed the company plans to roll out a retail store in Seattle within the next few months. The post says “the project is a test to gauge the market and see if a chain of stores would be profitable.”

According to the report, it won’t be a huge department store mirroring the ubiquitous website, but rather a small boutique “with the main emphasis on books from their growing line of Amazon Exclusives and selling their e-readers and tablets.”

They also will be stocking a ton of accessories such as cases, screen protectors, and USB adapters.

Amazon recently launched a publishing division with many authors writing exclusively for the company.

The report speculates the Seattle retail outlet would open in time for the 2012 holiday season.
