Mixed results for school levies, bonds in Special Election

Removing King County, voters across Western Washington were mixed on school levies and bonds, in early ballot counts.
King County Elections reported late Tuesday that all school levy measures were passing.
“Both Bellevue and Riverview school districts met the turnout requirements for their bond measures. Both bonds are currently passing with over 60% of the vote as well,” the county elections office tweeted.
Bellevue’s bond measure totals $675 million, to be used for rebuilding a trio of schools, and expanding two others.
A Valley Regional Fire Authority measure also restores funding for fire and paramedic services in Auburn, Algona, and Pacific.
In Snohomish County, voters in Lakewood, Marysville, Monroe, Snohomish, and Darrington rejected levies and bonds, according to early results. Levies were passing in Arlington, Edmonds, Mukilteo, and Stanwood.

Voters in Pierce County had similar ideas with mixed results among the districts. However, propositions are passing in both Tacoma and Auburn, as of Wednesday morning. Tacoma’s bond is worth $535 million, funding improvements within the city’s public school district. That encompasses renovations to certain schools, security, seismic upgrades, roof repairs, and more.
In Skagit County, residents are still waiting for returns from a potential increase of sales tax by a tenth of 1 percent, raising the total from 8.7 to 8.8 percent. That money would go toward affordable housing projects.
