A passenger helped stop a moving bus in north Seattle on Wednesday after the driver suffered a medical emergency, according to the Seattle Police Department.

The emergency happened in the Greenwood neighborhood. Police said the driver of a King County Metro bus had a medical emergency while driving along Greenwood Avenue North.

A passenger realized something was wrong and took control of the bus, bringing it to a stop.

The bus hit seven cars along the street before it was stopped. Authorities said multiple vehicles were damaged, but no pedestrians were hurt. At least one other person was taken to a hospital after the bus hit their car. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

Emergency crews took the bus driver to a hospital. Officials have not released details about their condition.

Police say the rider’s quick actions prevented a much more serious situation. Investigators are still reviewing what led to the driver’s medical emergency.
