Washington public health officials are actively investigating a Salmonella outbreak stemming from broccoli sprouts made by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts in Idaho.

According to the Washington State Department of Health, 13 people are currently sick, with eight confirming they ate sprouts bought from “grocery stores, food co-ops, and restaurants.” Seven specified that they ate broccoli sprouts.

Two people in Montana and one other person in Idaho have the same Salmonella strain, according to the Washington State Department of Health.

The Evergreen Fresh Sprouts are being tested at the Washington State Public Health Lab right now.

The Department of Health also notes that this outbreak is unrelated to the recent Salmonella and E. coli outbreaks with Everything Sprouts’ alfalfa sprouts.

Although two have been hospitalized, no recalls have been announced as of Sept. 4.

So far, King County has four reported cases, while Whatcom County has three, Spokane has two, and Skagit, Snohomish, Walla Walla, and Yakima all have one, according to the Washington State Department of Health.

If you currently own any of the broccoli sprouts, the Department of Health recommends that you throw them away or return them.

In addition, Washington’s Department of Health urges you to wash anything they may have touched with soap and hot water.

Washington’s Department of Health also recommends reaching out to your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F.
  • Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving.
  • Bloody diarrhea.
  • So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down.
  • Signs of dehydration, such as: Not peeing much, dry mouth and throat, feeling dizzy when standing up
