Spate of Puget Sound region K-12 schools return to remote learning

Many students in King County and throughout the Puget Sound region have had to shift back to remote learning temporarily as some individual schools announce pauses on in-person instruction until the latest wave of COVID-19 subsides.

This list will be updated periodically by the MyNorthwest staff. For more up-to-date information, check your school and district’s website.

Puget Sound schools feel strain of omicron surge, as some mull return to remote learning

Seattle Public Schools

Aki Kurose Middle School, Broadview-Thomson K-8, Franklin High School, Lowell Elementary, Meany Middle School, Mercer International Middle School, Olympic Hills Elementary School, and South Shore PK-8 School had all shifted to remote learning, but returned on Jan. 24 or sometime during that week.

Cleveland High School: Shifted to remote learning Jan. 21, and is resuming in-person Jan. 31.

Viewlands Elementary: Switched to remote learning Jan. 19. The school says it will continue remote instruction for 10 calendar days, with the first day back in person expected to be Jan. 31.

Northshore School District

Bothell High School: Remote learning began Jan. 12. After resuming in person, Jan. 31 is a non-student day. The high school will be “batch testing” on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Lake Washington School District

Eastlake High School, Juanita High School, Lake Washington High School, and Redmond High School resumed in-person learning the week of Jan. 24.

Edmonds School District

College Place Elementary and Scriber Lake High School had been in remote learning, with a return set for Jan. 24. No Edmonds schools are in remote learning as of Jan. 31.

North Beach School District

After shifting to a remote learning model Jan. 19-21 due to a “high absentee rate among students and staff, primarily due to COVID activity,” students are in-person again.
