It’s a memorable end to an ongoing Internet legal battle,
as Seattle comic artist Matthew Inman, creator of the
popular website, The Oatmeal, has posted several pictures
and a pointed message of the over $200,000 in cash his
supporters raised for charity.

The controversy started about a year ago when the Fremont-
based artist blasted humor aggregator site FunnyJunk for
allowing uncredited images of his work. Nearly a year
later, the site sued Inman for defamation and asked for
$20,000 in damages.

That sparked a flurry of biting cartoons and tweets
between Inman and media attorney Charles Carreon that
become an Internet sensation. Instead of agreeing to
settle the suit, Inman instead launched a campaign to
raise $20,000 for charity, promising to send a picture of
the money and a satirical cartoon of a man seducing a
Kodiak bear.

Inman dubbed his fundraiser “Operation BearLove Good.
Cancer Bad.” He named the National Wildlife Federation and
the American Cancer Society as beneficiaries, and raised
$211,223.04.

To culminate the campaign, Inman got all the money in cash
and has posted pictures of him posing with it along with
several other shots that include some pointed messages to
Carreon.

Carreon dropped the lawsuit last week.
