Seattle attorney suing mayor donated to Jenny Durkan campaign

The attorney suing Seattle Mayor Ed Murray attempted to donate to Jenny Durkan’s mayoral campaign.
Attorney Lincoln Beauregard donated $100 to the campaign in May.
Beauregard is the attorney representing a Kent man in a high-profile lawsuit against current Seattle Mayor Ed Murray. The case alleges Murray sexually abused minors in the 1980s. The attorney has been known to deliver harsh statements against the mayor when speaking about the case.
A Durkan campaign representative confirmed that the $100 donation was initially accepted, but the contribution has been returned. The campaign did not comment on why.

Durkan has raised at least $163,000 so far. It took three weeks for the Durkan campaign to raise that money from 650 contributors. Beauregard’s isn’t the only name that stands out on the donation list. Current Seattle Councilmembers Sally Bagshaw and Tim Burgess donated $500 each. Other notable Seattle residents who have pitched in for Durkan’s campaign include Ethan Stowell of Ethan Stowell Restaurants; and Louise Chernin, CEO of the Greater Seattle Business Association.
“I’m grateful for the grassroots support from my friends and neighbors who believe in our progressive agenda for Seattle,” Durkan said Monday. “…I look forward to continue meeting voters across the city to discuss my plans for our great city.”
According to the most recent records, the closest candidate to Durkan, financially, is Nikkita Oliver with the People’s Party. She’s raised a total of $46,698. Many of the donations range between $100 and $500. Like Durkan, Oliver also has garnered the support of 650 contributors, according to the City of Seattle.
While two of his colleagues have thrown in with Durkan, Councilmember Mike O’Brien has donated $250 to Oliver’s campaign.

Before he dropped out of the race, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray raised more than $400,000 for his campaign. Murray decided he will not run for re-election amid the ongoing civil lawsuit and allegations of sex abuse.
