Seattle police have arrested the suspect in a brutal stabbing on a Metro bus on Christmas Eve.

Officers spotted him and arrested the man without incident Monday afternoon in downtown Seattle, says Detective Drew Fowler.

The stabbing happened when the victim got on the bus in downtown Seattle and sat next to another passenger, who complained the victim was sitting too close. An argument ensued and the suspect stabbed the victim, a man in his 40s, multiple times before fleeing the bus.

The victim was treated for life-threatening injuries at Harborview Medical Center but is said to be improving.

Police did not release any further information Monday afternoon.
