Seattle police investigate Capitol Hill attack on gay man

The Seattle Police Department is investigating an apparent attack and hate crime against a gay man on Capitol Hill.

Police say the victim told officers he was smoking a cigarette near the corner of Belmont Avenue and East Pike Street around 1:30 a.m. Monday when three to four males walked up, called him a (expletive), then attacked him.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries to his head and face.

Officers searched unsuccessfully for the suspects. SPD’s Bias Crimes unit is reviewing the case. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call 911.
