Seattle stabbing suspect held for immigration probe

A 22-year-old man arrested for a fatal stabbing in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood is held without bail because he might be an illegal immigrant.
The attack followed a fight outside a nightclub early Friday, Oct. 26. Police say the suspected killer blocked Faustino Cervantes’ car in a parking lot near 1st Ave. and Bell Street and stabbed the 21-year-old when Cervantes opened his car door.
Witnesses said one of the suspects had an unusual haircut, which led to an arrest.
A judge set bail at $1 million, but federal Immigration Services has placed a no-bail hold on the stabbing suspect and the King County prosecutor expects to make a decision on charges Thursday.
Detectives are still looking for more suspects. Police have received some video of the suspects and are asking for more footage.
The stabbing was the 25th homicide in Seattle in 2012, which is five more than all of 2011.
