Seattle teacher loses cool, attacks unruly student

A Seattle high school teacher faces a felony assault charge
after losing his temper and attacking an unruly student.

It happened Wednesday at Southlake High School in South
Seattle. Witnesses say several students, including the 17-
year-old victim, were being disruptive in the classroom and
the 53-year-old teacher gave them an assignment to keep them
busy.

They refused and the angry teacher reportedly shouted some
obscenities at the students, according to Seattle Police
Detective Renee Witt.

“One of the students said something to the effect of ‘You
can’t say that,’ at which point the suspect grabbed him by
the throat and slapped him in the head,” Witt said.

The student complained of injury and was later transported
to an area hospital.

Officers found the teacher waiting in the staff lounge and
arrested him. He has been charged with felony assault.
