Sheriff’s Office: ‘The public should absolutely be worried’

A statewide manhunt is on for two brothers. The men on the run are suspected of murder. They are convicted felons and are believed to be armed and dangerous.
Detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office say they have found probable cause that John and Tony Reed murdered former neighbors Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude. The Arlington couple went missing earlier this month.

Brothers John Blaine Reed and Tony Clyde Reed are accused of killing an Arlington couple who disappeared a week ago.
Warrants have been issued for their arrest. John is 53-years-old and roughly 5’08” and 190 lbs. Tony is 49-years-old and roughly 5’11” and 150 lbs.
Their current location is unknown, though investigators believe the brothers were recently in Ellensburg after they found a car belonging to John in the area.
“The public should absolutely be worried,” said Sheriff Ty Trenary during a Sunday afternoon press conference.
Detectives said the brothers are most likely traveling in a red 2007 VW Jetta EOS Coupe belonging to their parents. The Jetta’s license plate number is: AXH5106.

The bodies of Patrick Shunn and his wife Monique Patenaude still have not been found, but authorities believe they have been murdered. Last week, investigators hiked up to where the missing couple’s Land Rover and Jeep were found in a wooded area near Oso.
“John Reed’s former house was very close to where Patrick and Monique lived,” Trenary said.
Detectives have acknowledged that there were property disputes between the Reed brothers and the missing couple. Shunn and Patenaude owned a large lot near the Stillaguamish River. They filed a lawsuit against the Reeds three years ago, claiming the brothers drove their RVs onto their property and let their dogs harass their farm animals.
After looking through their abandoned cars, the Snohomish County sheriff says they found evidence of murder and incriminating evidence in a home where John Reed once lived. Detectives said they were also able to obtain video surveillance footage tying the Reed brothers to the disposal of the vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office said it has two priorities: finding Shunn and Patenaude and catching the Reed brothers.
“The recovery of Patrick and Monique is our agency’s number one priority right now, for the sake of their families,” said Sheriff Trenary. “Our second priority is getting the Reed brothers into custody and off the streets.”
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the Reed brothers to call 911 or the Snohomish County Office’s anonymous tip like and 425-388-3848.
